TRANSFERS NEWS LIVE. Nobody was Expecting it First January signing Comfirm

Liverpool and Tottenham could now have to pay record fee to sign 24-year-old player

OGC Nice are reportedly looking to sell Jean-Clair Todibo for a club-record fee, with Liverpool and Tottenham both interested in the defender.

The 24-year-old centre-back has been one of the best players in Ligue 1 this season, with Todibo’s performances attracting plenty of interest from the Premier League.

Liverpool and Tottenham have been strongly linked with a move for Todibo this January, with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United also reportedly interested in the former FC Barcelona wonderkid.

However, according to Telefoot, Nice are confident they can now get a club-record fee for Todibo, with the French side believed to want as much as €60m (£52m) for their star defender.

Indeed, given how good Todibo has been this season and with the defender now a part of the France national team, Nice’s expectations for the centre-back make quite a bit of sense.

Yet given how sparse Premier League clubs have been this January, Nice could be in with a shock in the summer if no team is willing to match their valuation for Todibo.

With FFP finally doing it’s job, many top clubs around Europe have been limited by what they can do in the transfer market this month.

And as a result, Nice could end up selling Todibo far below their own valuation for the defender, especially if Tottenham and Liverpool make moves to sign the centre-back.

The Premier League is clearly an end-goal for Todibo, and if Nice don’t reconsider their valuation, they could end up missing out on a major payday for the 24-year-old this year.
