While Real Madrid were initially the favorites to sign him, they reportedly ended their pursuit due to the high wage demands. As a result, Arsenal seems to have the upper hand, with Mbappe reportedly favoring a move to the Emirates. The Frenchman is said to be intrigued by Mikel Arteta’s project in north London, which was also influential in signing Declan Rice from West Ham. Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had previously shown interest in signing Mbappe in 2017 when he was still at Monaco, but the player ultimately chose PSG.
