Three potential signings for Arsenal in January to strengthen their pursuit of the title.
Arsenal must make a key transfer choice in January to bolster their squad and assist Mikel Arteta in his quest for a title.
Fans remember the Invincibles for their incredible ability to win the Champions League. Not only did Arsenal have one of the top teams, but that season was also one of their best opportunities to win the Champions League.
Arsene Wenger made a wise move during the January transfer window that season, signing the late Jose Antonio Reyes, who contributed to Arsenal’s unbeaten league season. Mikel Arteta has altered the current Arsenal squad, bringing them closer to the quality of the 2003/04 squad
1. Jeremy Frimpong (right back)
Arsenal boss Arteta has shifted away from ultra-attacking full-backs, with Kierney and Ben White primarily playing on the left. The present setup, however, is unbalanced, with Takehiro Tomiyasu competing on the left alongside Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior.
The risk of overburdening Tomiyasu is great, and his absence has cost the team dearly. Jeremie Frimpong, a Dutchman with interest from Barcelona and Manchester United, might be an alternative for Arteta. However, Arsenal may be hesitant to invest extensively in this position due of Timber’s likely early return from injury and the exorbitant cost.
2. Douglas Luiz/Martin Zubimendi (central midfield)
In order to replace Jorginho and Partey, Arsenal is thinking about a succession plan, and Douglas Luiz and Martin Zubimendi are two possible candidates. Although Luiz is thought to be the greatest fit, Aston Villa can decide not to sell him because of their top-four result.
The midfielder from Spain, Zubimendi, is seen to be an easy signing for Arsenal provided they can afford to pay his £52 million release clause. Real Sociedad, though, might take a look at a deal if the Gunners fulfil the entire exit clause. Declan Rice and Zubimendi share a similar profile, although Manchester United is also interested in him. Luiz and Zubimendi should be Arsenal’s top priorities if they want to contend for big awards this year.
3. Pedro Neto (winger)
Arteta sought to sign winger Pedro Neto, who has been a standout since his performance against Manchester City. Despite a hamstring ailment, Neto has the most assists (7). Arsenal is seeking for a guy who can cover for Martinelli or Saka on the flanks. Because the injury is not serious, Arsenal may revisit the move. However, Neto is expensive, and Wolves may expect more.
