Latest Arsenal news includes all the details regarding the whereabouts of the senior stars during the international break, with friendlies and qualifiers taking centre stage

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has earned a recall to the Ghana squad after recovering from a groin injury

The second international break of the 2023/24 season has arrived and, despite William Saliba withdrawing from the France squad because of injury, Arsenal will be well-represented across the globe.

The Gunners’ near-perfect start to the campaign continued at the weekend with a 1-0 win over Manchester City. As that result keeps them level on points with Tottenham at the top of the Premier League table, it remains to be seen if this break disrupts any momentum.

So after eight league games, Arsenal are one of two sides still unbeaten. Furthermore, they are into the Carabao Cup fourth round and well-placed to qualify from their Champions League group. It goes without saying that Mikel Arteta will be hopeful all of his players return unscathed as a short trip across London to face Chelsea is their first fixture after the international break,

Although, as several senior stars are jetting off around the globe, with Euro 2024 and South American World Cup qualifiers and, those all-important friendlies, taking centre stage, the Gunners manager is going to be keeping everything crossed as he will lose 14 first-team players – currently at the club – and possibly two more for the next fortnight

Now, there is some confusion surrounding Bukayo Saka. The winger did not feature against Man City with Arteta revealing he would not be joining up with the England squad: “No, he will not make it,” the Spaniard told reporters after the game. “He has not trained for a single session.”

However, it has been reported that the 22-year-old is expected to report for duty at St George’s Park as planned, where he can be assessed by the national team’s medical staff ahead of games against Australia and Italy. Having said that, Gareth Southgate has already stated he will not take any unnecessary risks.

In a scenario where Saka is passed fit, he will link up with teammates Declan Rice, Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah with the latter in line for his Three Lions debut after failing an appearance against Ukraine and Scotland during last month’s international window.

Speaking of Ukraine, Oleksandr Zinchenko has been named in their squad for the UEFA Euro 2024 qualification double-header against North Macedonia and Malta. Fellow defender Jakub Kiwior has the chance to win cap numbers 16 and 17 for Poland while Takehiro Tomiyasu is in the Japan squad as they warm up for next year’s AFC Asian Cup by facing Canada and Tunisia.

Similar to Saka, Leandro Trossard’s involvement with Belgium is in doubt after he sustained a hamstring injury against Man City, but Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard will lead Norway’s attempts to qualify for Euro 2024 as they face Cyprus before taking on David Raya’s Spain in what could be a decisive fixture.
