REINFORCEMENTS : New striker, new midfielder and Defender-Managing Liverpool as Goncalo Inacio signs along with Wolves and Newcastle stars
Liverpool have so far been inactive in the summer transfer market in terms of incomings, but if you had the keys to the Anfield kitty in the next week what would you do?
In one sense you could say that not a lot has changed at Liverpool this summer, but in a more telling one everything has.
In replacing Jurgen Klopp with Arne Slot the Reds have altered the biggest presence on the training ground, changed the messages going into the players’ ears and given some members of the squad the breath of fresh air that they desperately needed.
It is by reflecting on that that you begin to understand the lack of transfer action, even if many don’t agree with it, but with just over a week of the summer window left you’d think that something, anything will happen soon.
Allowing the new manager – sorry, head coach – the time to assess the varying abilities of the squad he’s inherited is a fairly sensible and pragmatic move, but Liverpool are about to embark upon a gruelling season given the increase in Champions League matches, and the squad will need strengthening for that.
Because right now, with everyone fit and just one game a week to play, it might look as though Slot has all the options in the world, but that can quickly change.
So what should Liverpool do in the remaining days of the window? We picked up the keys to the Anfield transfer kitty and called the shots.
Goalkeeper and defence

The expected interest hasn’t been there for Caoimhin Kelleher, somewhat surprisingly, so he’s in for the season now, and we know about the deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili down the road so the goalkeeping ranks seem set.
In defence the exit of Sepp van den Berg has been coming for a while, and the club have done remarkably well to get up to £25m for him. The Joe Gomez news at the weekend was something of a surprise, but it seems as though things are too far gone now so his exit should be sanctioned. Around £45m really is great money for him and he deserves to be a main man somewhere.
If he goes then someone needs to come in though, and I’d revive the interest in Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio who has been on Liverpool’s radar for a while. He’d probably cost less than Gomez and is a classy left-sided defender.
NEW NUM 6 Midfield

It has been the area of focus for many a Liverpool fan this summer, and it still seems somewhat fanciful that no-one will come in after the Martin Zubimendi failure.
Sure, the idea that only the very best should be targeted does have its merits, but if you simply refuse to buy others are you not mistrusting your coach and his ability to get the best out of and improve players who get close to the levels you desire, even if they don’t quite meet them yet?
If Ryan Gravenberch is the new No.6 project then how about recruiting another midfielder in his stead? Basically a better Wataru Endo? I like Joao Gomes at Wolves and he strikes me as someone who could improve in a better side. With Joe Gomez gone you wouldn’t have the name confusion any more either.
NEW Attack

Five into three will go for Liverpool given the tasks that lie ahead of them, and the way Slot plays also means that another pacy wide option should be added into the mix too.
We all know who Liverpool fluttered their eyelashes at earlier this summer, and there is a sense that there is unfinished business when it comes to the Anthony Gordon move.
