Latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip as Juventus defender Gleison Bremer and Joe Gomez could impact how the Reds defence looks next season

Liverpool could have a new-look defence when the start of the Premier League season gets underway. The Reds have a little over two weeks to go until they kick off their top-flight campaign away at Ipswich Town on August 17.

The summer transfer window has been quiet from Liverpool’s point of view, with no new signings or player sales so far. Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip and Adrian’s exits as free agents remain the only notable changes to the Reds squad since Arne Slot’s arrival as head coach

James’ Park has led to speculation that the defender could still leave Anfield. Were Gomez to depart and Bremer sign, it could give Liverpool a different dimension for next season.

Alisson Becker will be the number one goalkeeper, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are likely to be the first-choice full-backs. Virgil van Dijk will be the first-choice centre-back, too, so Bremer would have aspirations of competing to earn a spot next to the Liverpool captain in defence.

Should Gomez depart, Bremer would be competing with Jarell Quansah, Ibrahima Konate and Sepp van den Berg at centre-back for Liverpool. However, Van den Berg has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield with the Reds already rejecting a bid from PSV Eindhoven.
