Liverpool secured a dramatic victory over Nottingham Forest thanks to Darwin Nunez’s late winner.
The Uruguayan forward, who had been sidelined with an injury, came off the bench and scored in the 99th minute to extend Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League.
However, controversy surrounded the winning goal, as Forest were wrongly denied possession just moments before Nunez’s strike.
Referee Paul Tierney mistakenly awarded Liverpool a drop-ball when Calum Hudson-Odoi was in possession, much to the frustration of Arsenal and Manchester City, who are chasing the league title.
Despite the controversy, Liverpool emerged victorious and strengthened their position at the summit of the league table.

A second put: “They played two extra minutes on top of 8 minutes added then didn’t add any time after Liverpool scored.”

Liverpool’s predicted XI vs Nottingham Forest
Liverpool have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to four points when they face Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.
With Manchester City in action on Sunday and Arsenal playing on Monday, Liverpool could put extra pressure on their title rivals with victory Forest. Despite what seems a never-ending list of injury issues, the Reds have continued to motor on, with youngsters Jayden Danns and Lewis Koumas scoring in a 3-0 win over Southampton in the FA Cup on Wednesday night.
That victory set up a clash with Manchester United in the quarter-finals, which will be squeezed into an already extremely tight schedule. But for now, all attention is on the clash at the City Ground on Saturday. Jurgen Klopp’s side emerged 3-0 winners in the meeting between the two teams earlier this season, though the last clash in Nottingham saw them lose 1-0 to Forest.
So can Liverpool move further clear at the top of the table on Saturday? Let’s take a look.
