Though he claims to be “very happy” at Liverpool, there has been ongoing rumour in Colombia and Spain that Luis Diaz is going to Barcelona.

I’m thrilled to be at Liverpool; it’s a fantastic team and organisation,” he said to Gol Caracol earlier this month. “I am very content and at ease since I have always wanted to play there. We are thinking about the Colombian national team, and that is all I am thinking about right now.

Diaz, whose contract at Anfield expires in2027, stated that he plans to return to Liverpool this summer even though his present concentration is on getting ready for Copa America. Barcelona remains interested, as evidenced by an update on Tuesday from The Athletic admitting their pursuit.

Further, according to Colombian writer Breinner Arteta Canizares, a meeting between Diaz’s agents and “emissaries from a Spanish club” is planned to take place in the US “this week or next.”

The 27-year-old “would have everything lined up to leave Liverpool FC and go to LaLiga,” according to reports. According to Joaquim Piera of Sport, Diaz and Bruno Guimaraes, a midfielder for Newcastle, are “the two players chosen by Barca to reinforce two key positions” over in Spain.

Hansi Flick, the new manager of Barcelona, has already given Diaz the go-ahead, stating that it has been agreed upon by all involved that he is the top priority.

For the Colombian winger to even entertain a sale, they would demand a hefty price, according to Merseyside writer Andy Jones. “The club would want to make a nice profit on the £50 million they spent on the 27-year-old in January 2022. He has three years left on his current contract.”
