One of our most consistent performers last season, livewire Brazilian Gabriel is delivering on the promise that marked him out as one of the brightest talents of his generation from a young age. Operating almost exclusively on the left flank in last term, the pacy forward was our joint top scorer with 15 goals, all in the league, and he also contributed six assists in all competitions. His tally was enough to equal the record for most Premier League goals scored in a single season by a Brazilian.

Gabi (full name Gabriel Teodoro Martinelli Silva) started his career in the youth setup at Brazilian giants Corinthians, but he started his senior career with third tier side Ituano, and joined the Gunners shortly after his 18th birthday. He won the Arsenal Goal of the Season award during his debut year for a stunning solo goal in a 2-2 draw at Chelsea.

A former Brazil youth international, and Gold medal winner at the Tokyo Olympics, he made his senior debut in 2022 and featured at the World Cup in Qatar as the Selecao reached the quarter-final. Gabi signed a new long-term contract with the club in February 2023.

Gabriel Martinelli’s late goal gave Arsenal a 1-0 victory over title rivals Manchester City in the biggest game of the Premier League season so far. The Brazilian’s 87th-minute shot hit Nathan Ake in the face and deflected past a wrong-footed Ederson, giving Arsenal the lead and subsequently a three huge points.
