Liverpool XI vs Luton: Predicted lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Premier League today

The injury problems are piling up for Jurgen Klopp ahead of a crucial week

Liverpool head into tonight’s Premier League clash with Luton without Diogo Jota, Alisson Becker and Curtis Jones.

After he was forced off in the first-half of the win over Brentford on Saturday, Klopp has now confirmed Jota will be missing for “months”.

“With Diogo it will obviously take about months. With Curtis… It’s with the injuries as well you have important days. Day five, day 10 are important days when you judge the situation again because nobody reacts in the same way.

“Curtis got a knock on the lower part of his shin, or above the ankle,” Jurgen Klopp said after the match.

“We will see what that means. It was what he felt, but he was not 100 per cent sure. That Curtis cannot play on tells you that it must be something because he would have played on at all costs.”

Jones is also set to miss Wednesday night’s Premier League clash and the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea this weekend, having also come off at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Darwin Nunez is a doubt after he was replaced at half-time, but that is not believed to be a serious issue and the decision was more precautionary.

Liverpool are already without Trent Alexander-Arnold due to a knee issue, while Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to continue in goal with Alisson Becker ruled out with a muscle injury.

Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip and Stefan Bajcetic are longer-term absentees, giving Klopp plenty to ponder as his side look to stay in pole position in the title race and lift a first trophy of the season over the next few days.
