Liverpool transfer news: A reported Reds target has signed a new deal with his current club but there is interest in a current member of Xabi Alonso’s squad.
Takefusa Kubo was reportedly a wanted man during the January window
Liverpool faces a few critical months on and off the pitch before a summer of change at Anfield. The Reds remain in the hunt for four trophies and could get its hands on the Carabao Cup by beating Chelsea at Wembley.
Jürgen Klopp’s side is also still top of the Premier League and right in the mix to win the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. It means Klopp could end his tenure with a quadruple, although there is a still long way to go to achieve that feat.
The search for the German boss’ successor remains ongoing, with Klopp hailing Xabi Alonso as a ‘standout’ last week. But there could be competition for the Bayer Leverkusen boss, with the Times reporting that he is also on Bayern Munich’s radar.

Takefusa Kubo (Real Sociedad)
Liverpool reportedly had an approach to sign Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo knocked back in January and the Reds have now received another blow. Kubo, 22, is enjoying a fine season in La Liga and has scored seven times.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool has been particularly impressed with the Japan international and ‘made a proposal’ for him in January. It is also reported that Manchester United, Juventus and Al Nassr also approached him but Kubo made it clear did not want to leave mid-season.
