Liverpool injury update: Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Curtis Jones latest news and return dates
Reds face huge trip to Manchester City after the international break
Liverpool head into the international break just a point behind Manchester City in the Premier League table.
After such a difficult campaign last time out, Jurgen Klopp’s side look back to something approaching their best.
Sunday’s 3-0 win over Brentford extended their 100% record at Anfield and the trip to Manchester City after the international break is absolutely mouth-watering.
Still, the German is trying to mount challenges across a number of fronts, having also vowed to take the Europa League seriously.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Liverpool injuries…
Ibrahima Konate
Ibrahima Konate has pulled out of the France squad who are due to play Gibraltar and Greece over the international break, having missed the win on Sunday.
“Victim of a small muscle injury to his left hamstring with Liverpool in the Europa League on Thursday in Toulouse during the warm-up, Ibrahima Konaté was unable to play this weekend with Liverpool,” read a statement from the French FA.
“His injury requiring approximately two weeks of treatment, Didier Deschamps, after speaking with Dr. Franck Le Gall, the doctor of the French team, recorded Ibrahima Konaté’s withdrawal.”

Joe Gomez
Fellow defender Joe Gomez missed the win over the Bees with a minor injury.
Potential return date: Unknown
Curtis Jones
Despite a number of midfield signings this summer, Curtis Jones is growing in importance at Liverpool.
The England U21 international, however, suffered a “low grade” hamstring injury during the Carabao Cup victory at Bournemouth.

“Curtis had a hamstring (issue) not massive. After the international break, he will be back but before not. It’s a low, low-grade hamstring,” said Klopp earlier this week.
“He was in good shape, red card, lack of rhythm, got the games and then, he felt a little bit. I took him off against Bournemouth, he didn’t feel anything there then in the dressing room he was lying there and felt something. We had a scan, very low-grade but kept him out.”
Potential return date: Saturday 25 November vs Manchester City
Ryan Gravenberch
Summer signing Ryan Gravenberch has missed the last two games due to a small knee problem. He was seemingly close to playing against Brentford, raising hope he will be available for the City clash.
“Ryan got a little niggle in the knee, nothing major,” Klopp said on Wednesday. “He was running today (Wednesday), we hope there’s a chance for Brentford and he will definitely be back after the international break but that doesn’t help now for today. That’s why he’s not here (Toulouse).”
Potential return date: Saturday 25 November vs Manchester City
Andy Robertson
Key defender Andy Robertson had surgery on a shoulder injury sustained while on Scotland duty last month.
Potential return date: Unknown
Thiago Alcantara
Thiago’s injury problems continue. Yet to appear this season following hip surgery during the summer, he is not expected back before the New Year.
“With Thiago it is slightly different, it’s an ongoing thing and we cannot put any kind of pressure on there as well,” said Klopp earlier this month.
“We expect him to be back – and I would say probably the start of the New Year. It’s now already November, so that would mean another four weeks. I would say that’s probably a realistic thing to try and I can’t wait, to be honest, to have him back.
“The player he is is just exceptional. I understand you ask, but it’s nothing where we can have a week by week update because that will not change a lot in this moment.”
Potential return date: January 2024
THIAGO IS YET TO APPEAR THIS SEASON
Stefan Bajcetic
Stefan Bajcetic enjoyed a breakthrough season last time out but recently suffered a setback on his return from an adductor injury.
“No, we don’t know [when he will be back],” said the Reds boss.
“With Stefan it’s, again, one of these things. Stefan’s quality, potential, talent, everybody could see and it’s incredible – what a player – but the body was not ready yet.
“They are still growing these boys and they are all different; we have other players with a different, what is it, skeleton, a different body where OK that’s fine and for other players it is a bit too early. We just have to put the break on again and just wait until that’s all fine.
“Then Liverpool FC has a wonderful player to use, but there is absolutely no time that we can put on that and we will not. We just have to wait.
“He is here, he is training, he is doing his stuff, we are building his [fitness]. We know how he good he is and now we have to make sure we help him to get a body to show that, and not only once but then three times a week.
“We will get there [and that will be] very good news for the club, [but] in the moment we cannot use him and that’s all.”
