Let’s play a game’ – Liverpool supporters make same Man City point after controversial penalty

Liverpool have not had much luck regarding refereeing decisions in recent Premier League games

Amadou Onana of Everton blocks a shot on goal from Manchester City’s Nathan Ake

Liverpool fans have been left frustrated by another contentious refereeing call, this time occurring in Everton’s meeting with Manchester City at Goodison Park.

City were awarded a penalty in the 64th minute of the match after a Nathan Ake shot inside the Everton box was deemed to have been handled by Amadou Onana.

Ake’s powerful effort, fired at goal from touching distance of Onana, left the Belgian midfielder little time or space to adjust his hands but referee John Brooks pointed to the spot. VAR chose not to overturn this decision due it not being a clear and obvious mistake.

Julian Alvarez stepped up to take the spot-kick and put his side 2-1 up in the match, Bernardo Silva adding a third late on to make sure of all three points for the visitors.

What two Everton players did against Tottenham didn’t look great – but I loved it
