Liverpool strong contenders for Gleison Bremer

Yoro would be a dream signing for Liverpool. Still only 18 and with the world at his feet, the Frenchman could go on to be one of the very best defenders around.

Nevertheless, that does not mean that Yoro would be the only centre-back who could improve Liverpool.

The Reds have indeed been linked with a number of other defenders. Riccardo Calafiori was named as a top target for Liverpool but the Italian now looks more likely to join Arsenal.

Not to worry though, because according to the latest reports from Italy, the Reds are looking into signing a player who is said to be even better than Calafiori.

Tutto Juve report that Liverpool are one of the ‘main candidates’ to sign Juventus centre-back Gleison Bremer.

Bremer has had a good season with the Turin giants and has reportedly caught the attention of ‘several top European clubs.’

One of these is said to be Liverpool, who are now pushing to get him to Anfield.

The Reds’ interest is reportedly set to manifest into a bid, with Liverpool claimed to be readying an offer of around £50m for Bremer. Given his status as a key player, Juve are said to be keen not to lose the 27-year-old.

Are Liverpool serious about Gleison Bremer interest?

For those who follow transfer rumours closely, they’ll perhaps remember that Liverpool were linked with Bremer back in summer of 2022.

Back then, Bremer had just been named Serie A defender of the year and was on his way to join Juventus from city rivals Torino.

Fast forward two years and Bremer’s stock is still high in Italy. It was only January of this year that Juve legend Sergio Brio hailed the Brazil international as ‘the best defender in Serie A.’

“I like him very much,” Brio said via Il Bianconero. “Bremer is an exceptional player with great timing and positional sense on the pitch. I have no doubts: today the Brazilian is the best defender in Serie A.”

While all of that sounds promising – and the potential £50m fee doesn’t actually sound too bad – we think Bremer is just a little too old to be a player Liverpool seriously consider.

We’d love to be proven wrong, but we think the Bremer ship has sailed down the Mersey.
