Ivan Toney successfully converts a free-kick to score Brentford’s opening goal,

much to the confusion of Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espírito Santo.

Toney was seen moving the ball slightly to the right before taking the free-kick, despite the referee’s foam indicating the correct spot.

Nuno believes this incident should have been checked, emphasizing that any situation leading to a goal must be reviewed.

Toney, on the other hand, defends his actions, stating that he was within his rights to move the ball within a yard.

He saw an opportunity to bend the ball around the wall and was delighted to see it go in. Toney practices free-kicks daily, even though his teammates often tease him when the ball goes off target.

This goal marks his fourth in four league matches against Nottingham Forest. The match ended in a 3-2 home win for Brentford, providing them with a crucial victory after a winless streak since December.

Despite not having played competitively for eight months due to a gambling ban, Toney played the entire match and had predicted a successful return during his time away from the game.
