Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has shared an update following his knee injury sustained against Liverpool on Sunday

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has shared a glimpse into his recovery process after sustaining an injury that forced him off during the Gunnersā€™ recent clash with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium. Gabriel was substituted with about half an hour remaining, leaving Arsenalā€™s backline in a challenging configuration as they sought to defend their lead.

During the match, Thomas Partey held his position at right-back, while Ben White moved centrally to cover for the suspended William Saliba. By the time Gabriel exited the field, Jakub Kiwior and Jurrien Timber were tasked with handling the left side of defence. Timber, however, was soon seen struggling with cramps, and Miles Lewis-Skelly ultimately finished the game at full-back.

Liverpool capitalised on Arsenalā€™s defensive struggles, with Mohamed Salah eventually levelling the score. Earlier goals from Bukayo Saka and Mikel Merino had put Arsenal in a promising position, but Virgil van Dijkā€™s header and Salahā€™s equaliser shifted the momentum, leaving the Gunners to settle for a point. Manchester City emerged as the weekendā€™s real winner in the title race, as Arsenalā€™s draw kept the standings tight.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta acknowledged the growing injury list, with Gabriel now added to his concerns. The 26-year-old Brazilianā€™s injury came after a collision with Darwin Nunez, which saw him briefly play on but ultimately require assistance as he hobbled off the pitch. Arteta, speaking post-game, provided limited insight into Gabrielā€™s condition.

ā€œI donā€™t know, but he could not run,ā€ Arteta said. ā€œI donā€™t know if itā€™s the knee joint or the ankle. Theyā€™re assessing him now.ā€

Later, Gabriel Magalhaes posted an update on Instagram, which may offer a glimmer of hope for Arsenal fans. In his story, Gabriel wrote, ā€œIn everything give thanks,ā€ accompanied by raised hands and bicep emojis, alongside an image showing his leg elevated with a compression sleeve.

He followed up with another post saying, ā€œWe keep fighting together!!ā€ and included a picture of himself cheering on his teammates from the pitch.
