Liverpool raise Mamardashvili bid

Liverpool have raised their offer to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili, according to Relevo.

It has been said that the Reds have tabled a €30million bid plus add-ons which could see the deal rise to €40million.

Reports have suggested that the two clubs have been apart in their valuations of the shot-stopper. However, should reports be true, it could see Liverpool pay closer to their demands and make the goalkeeper Arne Slot’s first signing

Liverpool reportedly appreciate Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

Hello and welcome to the Liverpool Echo’s LIVE blog! Liverpool got off to the perfect start in the Premier League this season with a comfortable 2-0 win over Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

Arne Slot would have been aware of the banana skin of travelling to Suffolk for the opening match of the season but quickfire second-half goals from Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah secured the three points. While the result was positive, a decision before the game sparked a big talking point

Centre-back Joe Gomez was left on Merseyside as he weighed up his options ahead of the transfer window closing. Newcastle United had agreed a £45m fee for the Englishman earlier in the summer but that fell through as the Magpies secured their financial position without allowing Anthony Gordon to go the other way.

With Gomez looking likely to exit, Liverpool have become sudden favourites to sign Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite. According to bookmakers Sky Bet, the Reds are the favourites to snap up the young defender this summer.

Manchester United have been keen on Branthwaite but were unable to reach Everton’s £70m valuation. So, with that being said, stay with us at the Liverpool Echo as we plate up all the latest news and transfer rumours

Jota on season

Diogo Jota feels he can finish chances that come his way this season.

The Portuguese attacker was on target in the 2-0 win over Ipswich on Saturday.

“It’s obviously a bit different from [Jürgen] Klopp where I maybe was useful out wide,” he said.

“I think here he [Slot] wants our wingers a lot more in one-v-ones and I think we have better options than myself!

“If I stay in the middle and wait for those chances to come in and score them, I think that is what I do the best so you can take that into the season.
