HIGHLIGHTS : Player ratings: Liverpool 4-0 LASK
Caoimhin Kelleher – 8different game if not for the Irishman.
Here are our player ratings for Liverpool vs LASK in the UEFA Europa League. The Reds were winners on a comfortable night at Anfield.
Liverpool played out a very comfortable 4-0 on Thursday evening. They beat LASK in the Europa League to qualify for the next round as group winners.
Luis Diaz opened the scoring with a fine header before Mohamed Salah setup Cody Gakpo for a tap-in and 2-0. The Dutchman returned the favour, of sorts, by winning a second-half penalty that Salah converted.
Gakpo then got another late on – Trent Alexander-Arnold with the assist off the bench
Caoimhin Kelleher – 8
Liverpool were inexplicably open in this game but Kelleher consistently kept out LASK. A different game if not for the Irishman.
Joe Gomez – 8
A really good game across two different positions. First, he played the hybrid right-back/midfield role and looked at home. Then he moved to centre-back and and was generally very good.
Ibrahima Konaté – 7
Liverpool were very open at the back at times but Konaté answered things well. He won five headers in the game by the time he went off – from five duels. He matched that 100% success rate with his tackles, too.
Jarell Quansah – 7
A couple of mistimed offside-traps but Liverpool played a risky game with that all night. On the whole, though, this was another good display from Quansah. A last-gasp block to keep out LASK was his highlight.
Kostas Tsimikas – 7
A really solid display from left-back and Tsimikas was desperately unlucky not to score a fantastic goal. His effort rattled off the crossbar from range – a goal he would have deserved for this run of form.
Wataru Endo – 7
A good game from Endo, even if you’d want a little more bite. His four interceptions were a match-high but he only attempted two tackles all game. Still, another step in the right direction for the Japan international.
Harvey Elliott – 7
A solid game. Elliott was creative going forward, even if he didn’t end up with anything to show for it. He keeps getting better and better every game – you can’t ask for more.
Ryan Gravenberch – 7
Had his moments but things just didn’t quite click around the penalty area. Still created two chances and passed the ball quite well – just also not quite Gravenberch’s best.
Mohamed Salah – 9
Salah was on fire at times here. He got his goal from the penalty spot – no. 199 for the club – and also created Cody Gakpo’s goal. Some of his touches were on another level and the Egyptian is in fantastic form.
Cody Gakpo – 10
Scored twice, won a penalty, hit the woodwork, created two chances, kept the ball well. Gakpo couldn’t really do more than this. The best and most effective player on the pitch.
Luis Diaz – 9
LASK just couldn’t handle Diaz in that first half. He opened the scoring with a fantastic header but his flicks and movement created problems from the first whistle. In this mood, he transforms Liverpool into an unstoppable attack.
Subs
Darwin Nunez – 5
Just couldn’t find the right moment after he came on. Far less of a threat than those he replaced.
Curtis Jones – 6
A weird game to come into at 3-0 up. Jones didn’t really do much good or bad.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7
Came on as a right-back, moved into midfield and grabbed an assist. Quiet on the whole but still left his mark on the game.
