Folarin Balogun of the USA fails two penalty attempts as Monaco loses.
AS Monaco fell to nearby rival Nice 1-0 in Friday’s Ligue 1 match in France, American striker Folarin Balogun missed two penalty attempts.
Marcin Bulka saved Balogun’s first penalty kick in the 12th minute as he made his Monaco debut after joining from Arsenal.
A second opportunity presented itself to the striker in the 56th minute, but once more, he could only muster a weak penalty, which Bulka was able to parry.
Then, in the first minute of added time, Jeremie Boga charged forward, broke into the area, held off a defender, and fired a shot inside the far post to hand Monaco its first loss of the year.
After the final horn, Monaco manager Adi Hütter lent Balogun his support.
The club’s website quotes him as saying at a news conference that “he was unfortunate today and wanted to score this second penalty.”.
Football is involved.
He is still a young attacker, so we will be there to assist him in recovering.
However, we both win and lose together
