Ryan Gravenberch’s outstanding performance for the Netherlands against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday has further justified Rafael van der Vaart’s claim that he is better than Jude Bellingham

The 22-year-old midfielder shone in the 5-2 win, completing 90 minutes with an impressive 87 touches, 67 completed passes, and two key passes.

Van der Vaart, a Netherlands legend, praised Gravenberch’s “super sharp” and “dynamic” play, noting that he is finally showcasing his talents.

This is not the first time Van der Vaart has praised Gravenberch, having previously commended his performance in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Manchester United.

He said: “I once said that he is better than Jude Bellingham, and I was rightly laughed at. But I have to be honest and say that he is now showing things that make me think; ‘finally!’

Gravenberch’s display against Bosnia and Herzegovina marked his first competitive international appearance since September 2022 and only his second match for the Dutch over the past two years.
