Liverpool are having a wonderful campaign. In what is manager Jurgen Klopp’s final season at Anfield, the Reds could win as many as four major trophies.

The Merseyside club have already won the Carabao Cup. Liverpool could clinch the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Europa League as well.

Liverpool are looking good in attack. They have scored 65 goals in 28 Premier League matches and hammered Sparta Prague over two legs in the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 tie.

There is no dearth of talent in the Liverpool attack, but just imagine how more potent they would be now if they had Jeremy Doku in their team as well.

Liverpool tried to sign Jeremy Doku

Doku is flourishing at Manchester City at the moment, but he could have been turning out in Liverpool colours.

The 21-year-old Belgium international winger has previously been linked with Liverpool. In June 2023, French reporter Mohamed Toubache-Ter claimed that Liverpool have a strong interest in Doku.

Doku’s father admitted that they visited Anfield in 2018 and discussed a transfer with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who saw Doku as a Sadio Mane-like talent.

It was City who signed the youngster in the summer of 2023. The defending Premier League champions paid Rennes £55.5 million (Sky Sports).

Doku was in action for City against Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday.

The winger started on the left flank, and former Liverpool midfielder and BBC Sport pundit Danny Murphy was hugely impressed.

The youngster was a problem for the Newcastle defenders throughout his time on the pitch. His pace was frightening.

Murphy said about Doku on BBC One: “Doku is electric. Great feet, great balance. I wouldn’t want to play against him, that is for sure.

“They say watch the feet not the ball, it’s not as simple as that. I tried that once against Gianfranco Zola at Anfield, it didn’t go well.”

Doku is just 21 and has a lot of potential. He is not the finished article yet and can only get better, especially under City manager Pep Guardiola.

The winger has scored five goals and given six assists in 33 matches in all competitions for Liverpool
