Edu could gift Mikel Arteta clever Arsenal signing as pre-season tour decision confirmed

The Gunners are stepping up their preparations for the upcoming season and Mikel Arteta should have a decent sample of his squad to choose from

Mikel Arteta is preparing the Arsenal squad for their pre-season tour of the United States of America.

Arsenal are ramping up their preparations for the coming season. Mikel Arteta has already had a small group of players out on a training camp in Mallorca, and this week, more of the squad have joined up for training at London Colney.

Included in the group have been Ben White, Jurrien Timber, Kieran Tierney, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Thomas Partey, Fabio Vieira, Martin Odegaard, Reiss Nelson, Emile Smith Rowe, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus. Youngsters Ayden Heaven, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri have all stepped up to join the first team group as well.

The players have been hard at work getting into the peak physical condition required to go one better and push Manchester City for the Premier League title this season. Their preparations will go up another level when they travel to America this Sunday.

While out in the States, the Gunners will play games against Bournemouth and Manchester United in Los Angeles. They will then travel to Philadelphia to round off the tour with a match against Liverpool under new boss Arne Slot.

Currently the squad numbers are relatively small. With the Euros and Copa America both taking place this summer, many Arsenal players have been in international action until relatively recently and therefore are still on holiday. Arteta however, is expected to have a sizeable squad of players to work with while out in America.

Players who are not expected to be involved at all are Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Aaron Ramsdale and David Raya. All four were involved right up until the final of the Euros with England and Spain respectively and are therefore expected to join up with the squad when they return to the UK ahead of pre-season friendlies at Emirates Stadium against Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon.
