Disgraceful’ – Celtic fans slam ’embarrassing’ criticism of Tom English’s silence

It seems like Celtic fans are continually getting it in the neck for their stance on the minute’s silence as the criticism flows in.
But when you look to see who the criticism is coming from, at least those fans know that they are on the right side of history.

The Celtic fans’ message at Kilmarnock explained clearly why many of the Parkhead supporters have an issue with this forced act year in and year out.

The Kilmarnock manager decided to take to have his say despite Derek McInnes having a questionable history of singing anti-Celtic and sectarian songs of hate when he was a Rangers player.
Martin Keown will have a renewed standing with the Celtic support after his comments explained their stance perfectly.

And then we had the stupid former Coronation Street man, Charlie Lawson, telling the world he ‘hates’ Celtic fans. What’s new there then from that idiotic washed-up TV star?
But it was these words from Tom English about the minute’s silence that really annoyed the Celtic supporters, “It’s cringe-making, it’s mortifying but it’s hard to stop it because I don’t see a will to stop it.

“This has been going on for many, many, many years. And the SPFL stand by and allow all sorts of things to happen in football stadiums in this country.

“And I would just like to send a message like to these, I don’t think these people are listening, right? They’re kind of ignorant.
Like, I’m going to list a few people here, right? And Celtic, these Celtic people singing, ‘If you know your History’, clearly they don’t.
Patrick Slavin, Leigh Roose, Donny McLeod, Archie McMillan, Bob Craig, John McLaughlin, Peter Johnston.

“All Celtic players who died in World War I. And yet these guys can’t even stay silent for one minute. I think it’s disgraceful.

“I echo Brendan Rodger’s sentiments and Derek McInnes’ sentiments in particular. And I would praise Derek McInnes for having the courage to raise it.
One fan responded, “Typical. Shameful that some Irish will always support the British. Conveniently ignores that the poppy is not related to the 2 world wars alone but also remembers their murderous campaigns in Ireland. Maybe he should listen to James McClean on the matter.

“Also, no comment on the song Celtic fans were singing about Aidan McAnespie an innocent Irishman shot down in cold blood by the British army on his way to a Gaelic football game in Co.Tyrone.

“No mention either that he was subject to ongoing harassment each time he crossed the border to work prior to this. British soldiers even urinated in his lunch at times. Some heroes.”
Another Celtic fan said, “Bit confused about little Derek M. He criticised Celtic fans for disrupting the minute silence. Is this the same guy who sang Billy Boys? A chant which commemorates someone called Fullerton.

“An actual member of the KKK, a Fascist thug, Oswald Mosley’s chum. So much for Derek ‘commemorating’ the defeat of Naziism.”

Other Celtic fans said, “That’ll be because the other mob got nice cushy jobs in the shipyard then.”, “Were you praising Mr McInnes when he belted out songs of hate when he was wearing the blue jersey? Celtic supporters never forget the sins against…“

And one thing that annoys Celtic fans the most? This:

Every year this circus rolls into town and every year the SPFL and the SFA continually force this on football grounds.

If people want to pay their respects then many Celtic fans wouldn’t have an issue with that but forcing the poppy, Union Jack and a British Armed Forces love in on Celtic fans when the Government politics allows genocide to be carried out on a whim. No thanks.
