Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has identified Borussia Dortmund starlet Jamie Bynoe-Gittens as a player that could help the Gunners’ Premier League title challenge in the January transfer window. The 19-year-old has impressed during his time in Germany, making five appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Bynoe-Gittens recently signed a new long-term contract at Dortmund – extending his stay with the Bundesliga outfit until 2028. The 19-year-old joined Dortmund from Manchester City’s academy setup back in 2020 and his contract extension highlights the faith the German club have that Bynoe-Gittens can be the next superstar produced at Signal Iduna Park.

Dortmund have a brilliant track-record when it comes to turning young talents into world-class stars – with Ousmane Dembele, Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham all developing at the club before completing mega-money exits. Bynoe-Gittens could be the next talent to move on for a huge fee with Arsenal said to be plotting a move for the England Under-21 international.

Bynoe-Gittens has already earned high praise when called upon by his side, with Dortmund boss Edin Terzic telling DAZN last season: “With him, it’s basically quite simple: he has the ability to decide games. He’s a game-changer – and that’s what I wanted to see from him.”

Bynoe-Gittens is capable of playing on both flanks and would be able to provide cover for both Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka. Both Arsenal stars have struggled with injury so far this season, along with Leandro Trossard, leaving Arteta short of options in attack at times.

The Dortmund talent’s energy from off of the bench could be viewed as an attractive attribute during the latter stages of the season when the title race truly hots up. Bynoe-Gittens registered four goal contributions in 15 Bundesliga appearances last term and Arteta’s ability to develop young talents into better players could see the 19-year-old become the perfect competition for Saka and Martinelli in attack.
