BREAKING NEWS: Liverpool given perfect Federico Chiesa opportunity after £85m bid …

Liverpool have long been interested in Euro 2020 winner Federico Chiesa and the Reds have been handed a golden chance to finally bring the Italian attacker to Anfield

Liverpool have been given a prime chance to sign Federico Chiesa, with Juventus boss Thiago Motta revealing the Italian is surplus to requirements.

Chiesa starred for Juve last season, scoring 10 goals in all competitions to help his side win the Coppa Italia. But boss Max Allegri was sacked just before the end of the campaign, with Motta appointed as his replacement.

The former PSG defender is making a number of changes at Juve and has decided to consign Chiesa to the ‘bomb squad’. The attacker was left out of the squad which faced Brest on Saturday.

And Motta revealed after the game that Chiesa is now free to leave Turin. Instead, he is focusing on handing others opportunities, with Chiesa appearing to have little chance of reclaiming his place.

Chiesa is out for transfer market reasons, both him and the others who stayed at home, except Miretti who is injured. We were clear with them. They are good but they have to look for solutions where they can play more,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“Both for Chiesa and the others these are decisions made. We have to improve day by day and give joy to the fans who come to support this team and they deserve it. It is important to prepare well and improve in the game we want to see. I have seen an improvement from the first game, it is normal within a growth path.

Motta’s clarification on Chiesa’s standing in his squad could hand Liverpool the chance to resurrect a previously derailed transfer bid. Back in 2021, following his starring role in Italy’s Euro 2024 win, the Reds made a move for the Juve star.

Anfield chiefs submitted a bid in the region of £85million for the attacker. But the offer was immediately rebuffed by the Italian giants, who branded Chiesa ‘unsellable’ as they looked to build their team around him.

But Allegri’s exit appears to have spelt the end of Cheisa’s time at the Serie A giants. New Liverpool boss Arne Slot is still yet to make a signing this summer, though he does not appear to view the attacking areas as a particular weakness.

“We are very happy with the result, we scored some really nice goals. But I don’t think we had enough control over the game because United were threatening us more than a few times,” he said after Saturday’s win over
