Arne Slot will be eager to strengthen his Liverpool squad before the new Premier League season kicks off

Arne Slot could build one of the strongest Liverpool starting lineups to date if Richard Hughes manages to sign Anthony Gordon and Viktor Gyokeres. The duo continue to be heavily linked with moves to Anfield this summer following their impressive performances for Newcastle United and Sporting CP, respectively.

Gordon featured 35 times in the Premier League last season, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists, meanwhile, Gyokeres fired Ruben Amorim’s side to the Portuguese top-flight title. With Slot eager to bolster his frontline, the Reds have reportedly targeted the two forwards, who are valued at a combined £106.6m

Goalkeeper

Alisson is expected to continue between the sticks under Slot. The 31-year-old goalkeeper, who sees his contract at Anfield expire in June 2027, has played a crucial role for Liverpool since joining from Roma in 2018, winning the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup and two Carabao Cups.

Defence

Liverpool could boast one of the strongest backlines in Europe next season, with Andy Robertson, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Last term, only Manchester City and Arsenal conceded fewer goals than the Reds in the Premier League.

Midfield

Ideally, Hughes signs a new number six who can anchor Slot’s side. With that being said, though, Liverpool enjoyed success against Arsenal in pre-season while operating Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Attack

The Reds would be a force to be reckoned with if Hughes signed Gordon and Gyokeres. Not only would Mohamed Salah have his ‘new Sadio Mane’ in the frontline, but he’d also have a clinical finisher by his side.
