Liverpool ‘at the front of queue’ to sign Brazil international who is ‘definitely’ moving clubs in January

Liverpool are reportedly at the forefront of the race to sign Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade in January, according to reports.

The Reds brought in four midfielders in the summer transfer window, with Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch all arriving at Anfield

While all four players have impacted the team, it is Szoboszlai that has had the most eye-catching start to life on Merseyside – with fans comparing some of his qualities to that of Reds icon Steven Gerrard

But Liverpool missed out on certain signings too, with Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia both deciding to join Chelsea instead.

Another player they were unable to sign was Fluminense’s Andre, having been linked with the Brazilian defensive midfielder in the closing weeks of the window.

Club president Mario Bittencourt revealed (via Daily Mail) that Liverpool had approached Fluminense over a potential £25 million move, but that the Brazilian side were reluctant to lose Andre during their Copa Libertadores campaign.

Now, it has been claimed that Andre will ‘definitely’ move on in January – which has opened the door for Liverpool to swoop.

Liverpool-linked Andre ‘definitely’ leaving Fluminense in January

Speaking on 90min’s ‘Talking Transfers’ podcast, journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed that Andre will move on in January.

He explained: “He really is one on the agenda for January. I’ll be amazed if he doesn’t leave Fluminense.

“Will it be to Liverpool? I think they’re first in the queue. He’s definitely leaving Fluminense in January, and he may very well be turning up at Anfield.”

A combative midfielder, Andre has been a regular for Fluminense in both the Brazilian Serie A and the Copa Libertadores this year.

They will take on Argentinian giants Boca Juniors in the Libertadores final, which takes place on November 4.

The 22-year-old has already made over 100 appearances for Fluminense since making his senior debut in September 2020, and made his debut for the Brazil national team earlier this year in a major landmark.
