Liverpool have been forced to deal with some injury concerns in the early weeks of the season. Alisson Becker is one player who is guaranteed to miss the clash against Chelsea after suffering a hamstring injury in the win over Palace before the international break

Alexis Mac Allister is a doubt for Liverpool’s clash against Chelsea this weekend after missing Argentina’s World Cup qualifier against Venezuela last Thursday. After being substituted at half-time against Palace, there have been concerns that the midfielder may be on the sidelines with a potential injury.

Argentina face Bolivia on Tuesday evening, and if Mac Allister features in that fixture it would provide a major boost to the Reds No.10’s chances of featuring against Chelsea.

Harvey Elliott is working his way back from a fractured foot he suffered during the September international break. Elliott has missed Liverpool’s last seven matches, but has been stepping up his return to training in recent days and could have a role to play against Chelsea if he is given the green light to be involved.

Federico Chiesa has missed Liverpool’s last two matches with a fitness concern and was not part of the Italy squad for the latest round of international fixtures. It remains to be seen if the forward will make a return to the matchday squad to feature against Chelsea.

For Chelsea, Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella will be unavailable through suspension. The duo have picked up five yellow cards this season and will serve a one-match ban against Liverpool.

Club captain Reece James could make a return to the matchday squad after missing the first two months of the season with a hamstring injury. James returned to training on Monday for the Londoners, although i t remains to be seen if he will be fit enough to feature against Liverpool.

Omari Kellyman is the only other Chelsea player expected to be unavailable through injury as he continues to recover from a hamstring issue.
