Adrien Rabiot dreamed of Liverpool as Juventus makes final decision amid transfer links

Adrien Rabiot looks set to leave Juventus this summer. The midfielder has been regularly linked with Liverpool, and has even admitted to being a Reds fan in the past.

Adrien Rabiot has been linked with a move to Liverpool yet again this summer

It just wouldn’t be a transfer window without Liverpool being linked with Adrien Rabiot. To absolutely no one’s surprise, the midfielder is once again being touted for a move to Anfield this summer.

Rabiot has been a regular fixture in the gossip columns for years now, and it seems as though he will soon be on the move. His contract at Juventus has now expired, leaving him as a free agent as he weighs up his next steps.

The Italian club had offered the midfielder a new deal prior to Euro 2024, with Sport Italia (via Anfield Watch) claiming a two-year deal worth as much as $8.7m (£6.7m/€8m) was on the table. With no answer incoming from Rabiot though, Juve has already prepared itself for his departure.

Douglas Luiz and Khephren Thuram have both made the move to Turin from Aston Villa and Nice respectively, while Teun Koopmeiners is also said to be in their sights. Tuttosport claims that, with those signings in the bag, re-signing Rabiot is no longer a priority for the club.

Assuming Rabiot turns down Juve’s initial offer then, it looks unlikely he’ll receive a new one, and will instead have to look elsewhere. It’s claimed that Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and AC Milan are all contenders for his signature.

The Reds’ presence in the report feels like a token gesture, given Rabiot seems to be linked with Liverpool at any opportunity. There is a bit more to the links though than just general speculation. Rabiot has previously revealed he grew up as a Liverpool fan, having idolized one of the Reds’ greatest players.

“I followed Liverpool as a kid because I was a fan of Steven Gerrard,” he told Tuttosport at the end of 2022 (via Football Italia). “He made me dream, so I used to follow the Reds.”
