The Reds continue to be linked with a number of promising stars across Europe and two in particular have been catching the eye, although only one could be set for a move to Anfield

Liverpool have reportedly made a decision on Georgiy Sudakov after sending scouts to watch him last week

Liverpool heads into the international break as Premier League leaders and things couldn’t be much better for Arne Slot and co.

Starting the campaign with nine wins from 10 games in all competitions and making good progress in both the Carabao Cup and Champions League represents an almost-perfect start to life at Anfield for the Dutchman, who aims to fight on all four fronts this season.

Perhaps the most impressive stat is how Slot has conducted his work with the same squad as last season, with only one fresh face coming through the door during the summer. However, that could certainly change by the time January rolls around, with Liverpool continuously backed to welcome more arrivals.

And the first of those could be Shakhtar Donetsk midfield magician Heorhiy Sudakov, who the Reds recently scouted during his side’s Champions League clash with Atalanta last week. The Ukrainian played the full 90 minutes, but could do little to prevent his side falling to a 3-0 defeat.

Regardless, it appears Liverpool is happy enough with what it saw because the latest reports claim the Reds are set to move to sign the 22-year-old next year. That’s according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, which also claims Manchester City are keen on moving for the Ukrainian.

Whether Liverpool would make a move in January or at the end of the season, however, remains to be seen, but Sudakov certainly appears one for the future and has already impressed with Shakhtar so far this season, recording seven goals and two assists in eight league fixtures – including four strikes in his last game

Liverpool is not expected to make any move for Freiburg’s Merlin Rohl as things stand

On the flip side, reports linking Freiburg midfielder Merlin Rohl with a move to Anfield have been shut down. The German Under-21 international impressed across his 34 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit last season, drawing the attention of some of Europe’s elite.

But transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that Liverpool are focusing on “different areas” when discussing the clubs recent reported interest in the 22-year-old, suggesting that a move is unlikely as things stand.

Speaking to Caught Offside, he said: “I’ve seen the stories about Liverpool’s interest in Freiburg’s Merlin Rohl, but at the moment I don’t have confirmation on Liverpool working on this deal. Liverpool’s focus is currently on different areas, but also for Rohl at the moment there are no concrete contacts ongoing.”
