Liverpool boss Arne Slot has confirmed Alisson is set for ‘a few weeks’ out after the goalkeeper went down injured during his side’s 1-0 win at Crystal Palace.

The Liverpool keeper went down in some discomfort punching the ground after clearing the ball in his own box. He was subsequently replaced by 23-year-old Vitezslav Jaros who would make his unexpected debut for the club. Second-choice Caoimhin Kelleher missed the trip to south London with illness.

Alisson Becker is a fresh injury concern for Liverpool after the goalkeeper was forced off midway through the second half of Saturday’s clash with Crystal Palace.

The Brazil international was replaced by Vitezslav Jaros for his senior debut, with usual understudy Caoimhin Kelleher sidelined with an illness for the trip to Selhurst Park.

Alisson was forced to slice a clearance out of play in the second period after play initially was not stopped after he had gone down injured. The No.1 appeared to be holding his hamstring as he went down before he was taken off for Jaros with the Reds leading 1-0 at the time through Diogo Jota’s early

It’s unclear how serious the injury is presently but head coach Arne Slot will be able to offer an update at full time. Alisson, who was visibly frustrated at his enforced exit, has already missed two games through injury this season, sitting out the 3-0 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League last month and missing the 5-1 Carabao Cup triumph over West Ham United also

Last season was Alisson’s fewest number of games for Liverpool since he signed from Roma for £65m in the summer of 2018 with the recently-turned 32-year-old turning out for 32 matches across all competitions. He was sidelined for close to three months earlier this year with a muscle problem.
