Liverpool lineup vs. West Ham: Predicted XI for EFL Cup third-round clash

Liverpool manager Arne Slot will make a spate of changes for Wednesday’s EFL Cup third-round showdown with West Ham United at Anfield, potentially swapping all 10 of his outfield players.

The only man who could retain his spot from the weekend’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth is Caoimhin Kelleher, who stepped in between the posts for Alisson Becker due to the Brazilian’s muscle injury.

Unless Slot springs a surprise by handing third-choice goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros a start, Kelleher should act as the last line of defence once more, but he will likely have a new-look backline ahead of him.

Indeed, Conor Bradley and Kostas Tsimikas are in line for starts in the full-back areas, while Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez will likely form the central pairing; the latter is still waiting for his first Premier League minutes of the new season.

Neither Wataru Endo nor Tyler Morton made the squad for the victory over Bournemouth at the weekend, although the latter did feature for the Under-21s, and they could now join forces in the Liverpool engine room.

Dominik Szoboszlai would be fine to go again on Wednesday, having only lasted 61 minutes of Saturday’s success, but Curtis Jones should act as the most advanced midfielder with support from Cody Gakpo and full debutant Federico Chiesa.

Darwin Nunez repaid Slot’s faith in him with a terrific goal on his first start of the season versus Bournemouth, but the Uruguayan should now make way for Diogo Jota at the tip of the attack.

Liverpool possible starting lineup:

Kelleher; Bradley, Gomez, Quansah, Tsimikas; Endo, Morton; Chiesa, Jones, Gakpo; Jota
