Liverpool recorded a crucial win against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Liverpool fans took aim at one player despite their crucial win against Brighton and Hove Albion.

On Sunday afternoon, Liverpool had the chance to go back to the top of the Premier League ahead of Manchester City vs Arsenal later in the evening.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s men were stunned inside two minutes after Danny Welbeck smashed Brighton into the lead.

Liverpool drew level in the 27th minute when Luis Diaz flicked in Mohamed Salah’s header.

In the second half, the Reds’ talisman Salah came up with a huge goal as he slotted home a beautiful Alexis Mac Allister pass in the 65th minute.

Liverpool held on for three vital points as they moved three clear of Arsenal and four away from City.

However, despite their vital win, Liverpool fans were not happy with Cody Gakpo, who was brought on in the closing stages for Diaz.

On social media, one fan said: “Is Torres still around the place? If so take Gakpo back off and bring him on.”

Another tweeted: “F**king STATE of that tracking back from Gakpo. He’s been on the pitch for 4 minutes.”

A third fan added: “Cody Gakpo has become a liability every time he comes on.”

Someone else wrote: “Cody Gakpo is jogging. You just came on few minutes ago.”

A fifth commented: “Is Cody Gakpo injured? Why is he playing like this? He came on 5 minutes ago and already looks gassed. What’s wrong with him?”

Another fan said: “I’ll generally defend Cody Gakpo but man what are you doing dribbling into the box in the last minute of stoppage time in a 2-1 match, just go to the f**king corner flag.”

Speaking after the match, former Manchester United captain Roy Keane was full of praise for Mac Allister.

He said on Sky Sports: “Mac Allister is such a smart footballer. I’m hugely impressed with him. Lovely first touch from Mo Salah for the goal. It’s sexy football, that.”

All eyes will be on the Etihad Stadium now as City and Arsenal face off in a mouth-watering Premier League clash.
