Who is Tom Hill, a Liverpool player in Champions League squad? Answered

Liverpool have confirmed their squad for the league phase of the Champions League — and there is one obscure name on the lis

Tom Hill is listed as a midfielder among the players who will be eligible to play for the Reds in the biggest European competition.

Hill is a Liverpool academy graduate who will turn 22 in October. He has been with the Reds since the age of five and signed his first professional contract at age 17.

By that point, Hill had already made his senior Liverpool debut, playing 90 minutes in the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Aston Villa in December 2019. Unfortunately, this remained his only game for Liverpool’s first team.

Hill’s career was derailed by an ACL injury he suffered in September 2020. After surgery, he spent 20 months in recovery.

Thankfully, he has managed to avoid big injuries since then as he tries to recover his career. Last year, he made his debut for the Wales U21 side.

This season, Hill has played three games for Liverpool U21, registering one goal and one assist.

Hill may be unlikely to make it to the top level with Liverpool. However, if he ever manages to establish himself in professional football, the club should be given credit for not tossing him out and helping him throughout an agonizingly long recovery process.
