KYLIAN MBAPPÉ AGREED TO JOIN LIVERPOOL
The story has been reported in L’Equipe.

The ship has well and truly sailed but it’s not stopped reports surfacing on Kylian Mbappé potentially playing for Liverpool.

The French superstar joined Real Madrid in the summer in one of the biggest football transfers in history.

ESPN reported at the time that “Mbappé has signed a five-year deal worth €15 million ($16.2m) a year after taxes and will also receive a €150m signing on fee, spread over his deal.”

The staggering wages and bonuses the goal machine would have required would have likely caused discontent amongst other Liverpool stars.

MBAPPÉ AGREED TO JOIN LIVERPOOL
In a joint report in L’Equipe by Loic Tanzi and Hugo Delom, both journalists claim that Mbappé had an agreement to join Liverpool in 2022.

The report states that Kylian Mbappe asked to leave PSG in 2022 and had agreed to join Liverpool.

Mbappe would sign for Liverpool in a deal that would then allow him to join Real Madrid at some point. The French captain would have been a dream signing but with one eye looking towards Real Madrid in the future, it’s debatable if it was a price worth paying.

There was conflicting reports whether Liverpool made an official offer or not.

The 25-year-old has scored twice in four La Liga games for Real Madrid so far this season.

Relations soured between Mbappé and PSG at the end of his time there. Mbappé described signing for Real Madrid as “a big relief” when the transfer finally went through this summer.

Jurgen Klopp was at the helm at Anfield during the reported period. He was asked if February of this year if Liverpool would make a move for Mbappé.

“Obviously I am not involved in that but I can tell you that I would be surprised. It would be tricky for most of the top clubs I know — wages, signing fee.”
