Latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip as the Reds have until 11pm on Friday to complete their transfer business before the summer window closes

Giorgi Mamardashvili of Valencia

Liverpool are running out of time before they are no longer able to strengthen their squad. 11pm this Friday marks the deadline for the Reds and Premier League clubs to be able to complete new signings via the summer transfer window.

It remains to be seen if sporting director Richard Hughes will negotiate any deals for new signings before the transfer window closes. Liverpool tried to bring Martin Zubimendi to Anfield but the Real Sociedad midfielder opted to remain with his boyhood club instead.

The start to the Premier League season has seen Liverpool begin the campaign with back-to-back victories over Ipswich Town and Brentford. Manchester United are the Reds’ next opponents, but before then comes transfer deadline Day

Even though Liverpool are yet to make any new signings this summer, there is still time for that to change. The ECHO takes a look at how a dream ending to the summer transfer window could pan out for the Reds.

Sign Giorgi Mamardashvili

Liverpool have already agreed a deal with Valencia to sign goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili. A fee worth up to £30 million has been agreed between the two clubs, with the shot-stopper expected to return to the La Liga outfit on loan for the remainder of the campaign, the ECHO understands.

Getting the deal to sign Mamardashvili over the line is the ideal way to start the week before the transfer window closes. Even though the 23-year-old is not expected to be part of the squad until next season, looking ahead to the future is never a bad plan.

Sign Anthony Gordon

It was back in June that Liverpool had agreed a £75 million deal with Newcastle United before the move fell through. Fast forward two months and the former Everton star continues to be linked with a move to Anfield.

Liverpool are already blessed with forward options in the squad, but the fact that Gordon was targeted shows the Reds would like a player of his ability and skillset at their disposal. If the Reds can return to the negotiation table with Newcastle and agree a deal for Gordon once again, signing the England international would be a dream way to end the window.

Sign a new midfielder and centre-back

All summer it has felt that the possibility of signing both a new centre-back and midfielder have dominated the rumour mill. A host of players in each respective position have been linked with moves to Anfield.
