🚨🚨BREAKING NEWS  LIVE: Arsenal reportedly interested in signing Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez before Friday’s deadline😳👇

Arsenal are reportedly interested in making a shock move for Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez before the transfer deadline on Friday

Arsenal are reportedly considering a sensational move for Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez in a transfer that could send shockwaves through the football world. The Gunners have been actively searching for a new striker this summer, having previously targeted Benjamin Sesko, who ultimately extended his contract with RB Leipzig.

With the transfer window closing on Friday, Arsenal’s search for a forward continues, and recent reports suggest that the club is preparing an audacious bid for Nunez. The Uruguayan striker joined Liverpool from Benfica in June 2022 on a six-year deal worth an initial €75 million (£64 million), potentially rising to €100 million (£85 million) with add-ons. However, Nunez’s time at Anfield under new manager Arne Slot appears to be uncertain, with the striker reportedly considering his options.

Nunez has not started in either of Liverpool’s opening two matches this season, fuelling speculation that he may not fit into Slot’s tactical plans. Since joining the Reds, Nunez has scored 33 goals in 94 appearances but has also faced criticism for missing key chances, leading to questions about his long-term value to the team.

Rumours about Nunez’s future began circulating before the transfer window opened when the forward removed all Liverpool-related images from his personal Instagram account. Despite having four years remaining on his contract, which runs through 2028, Nunez is said to be interested in seeking a new challenge. Liverpool are expected to demand a fee of over £73 million to part ways with the striker.

Arsenal were previously interested in signing Nunez from Benfica in 2022, with Sporting Director Edu reportedly making contact with the player’s representatives and identifying him as a potential acquisition.

Nunez’s time in the Premier League has been described as “entertaining chaos,” with the striker known for his unpredictability and flair, making him one of the most exciting players to watch in English football

The speculation surrounding Nunez’s future has intensified following comments from ESPN FC pundit Steve Nicol, who suggested that Liverpool should consider selling the striker. Nicol noted that Darwin Nunez does not seem to fit into Slot’s playing style and that Liverpool could benefit from cashing in on the player.

“I think if the way Liverpool played and the way the front-line and the midfielders interacted, the way they were knocking the ball around and the little one-twos, all the movement around it, the one I thought was Nunez doesn’t fit into that,” Nicol said.

“And if that’s what Arne Slot is looking for on a consistent basis, then Nunez doesn’t fit into that. And if you have got a player who you can get good money for that doesn’t fit into what you are trying to do, then you have to think about letting him go.”
