 hope, Bajcetic danger

Liverpool transfer news as Sepp van den Berg heads for a permanent exit, more details emerge surrounding efforts to sign Luis Diaz and some new names are linked with the Reds

Liverpool could let Stefan Bajcetic leave on loan.

Liverpool fans are still waiting to see its first signing of the summer – but it’s another outgoing that looks to be on the cards as the next order of business.

Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg is closing in on a permanent exit. It’s reported Liverpool has agreed a deal in principle with fellow Premier League club Brentford to sell the 22-year-old after holding firm on its valuation.

Elsewhere, Joe Gomez could still be on the move plus several youngsters are edging closer to exits either permanently or on loan deals. One player not going anywhere, however, is Luis Diaz, despite more details emerging on the efforts of Barcelona to try and sign him earlier this summer.

Some new names have been linked while a deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili is moving closer. But Reds fans hope there will be much more to come.

Two clubs out of Gomez chase

Two clubs who were reportedly interested in signing Joe Gomez this summer are said to be out of the running for the defender.

The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield this summer and the likes of Newcastle, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Chelsea were credited with interest.

Now, however, it’s been reported that Newcastle and Chelsea have both taken a step back from any potential deal.

The Magpies are keen to avoid any potential PSR issues, while the Blues are looking to trim down their inflated squad, suggesting a step back from Gomez..

Interest remains in Bundesliga star

Liverpool is reportedly maintaining its interest in RB Leipzig defender Mo Simakan ahead of the final week of the summer transfer window.

According to Sky Sports Deutchland, Simakan is still on Liverpool’s list, although it faces stern competition from Juventus, which is also keeping an eye on the Frenchman.

Nothing is said to be advanced or concrete from the Reds, but Simakan is believed to be open to a new challenge.

Liverpool could make a transfer move for defender Mohamed Simakan.

Van den Berg undergoing medicals

Sepp van den Berg has arrived at Brentford’s training ground ahead of a proposed move to the Bees this summer.

The young defender has chosen to sign for Thomas Frank’s side after accepting their proposal and Liverpool has also agreed on a £25m fee for the Dutchman.

Now, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Van den Berg has arrived at Brentford’s training ground in west London to undergo his medical, with a move expected to be finalised in 24 hours.

Zubimendi ‘hope’ emerges

Liverpool is running out of time to launch a last-ditch effort to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad this summer but the midfielders manager has since offered a slivver of hope that a deal could still go through.

The 25-year-old has already rejected the Reds in favor of remaining with his boyhood club yet, although the transfer is very unlikely to happen, La Real boss Imanol Alguacil has hinted that it’s not completely out of the question just yet.

Following Real Sociedad’s opening weekend defeat in La Liga on Sunday, Alguacil said: “This happens every year. (It happens) to everyone, to all the managers and sporting directors, every summer there’s movement…

“(Mikel) Merino and (Robin) Le Normand? There are no two players like them. And I won’t even tell you (about) if Zubimendi leaves or not last minute.”
