shock, Raheem Sterling statement

Liverpool transfer news as Joe Gomez is a wanted man plus there is the latest on Giorgi Mamardashvili and Anthony Gordon after Arne Slot’s first win
Liverpool transfer news is still being craved, even though Arne Slot got off to the perfect start against Ipswich Town. Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah were on the scoresheet at Portman Road.

Transfer deals are still being discussed in the background, at least according to the rumor mill. And Valencia shot-stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili continues to be linked with a move to Anfield, with an initial loan elsewhere proposed for the 23-year-old.

For the time being, Slot still has Alisson Becker to rely on, and Caoimhin Kelleher is yet to secure a move away either. But the Georgian stopper could be an exciting prospect for the future.

Other than that, it feels like all the Liverpool links have been exhausted, causing them to loop back to previous rumors. Takefusa Kubo and Goncalo Inacio have both back in the gossip columns again and Anthony Gordon too.

The transfer window shuts on August 30, so Liverpool doesn’t have long to strike any deals. But even now, it would be a surprise if nobody arrived all summer, so stick with us!

The salary Zubimendi was offered

Liverpool was prepared to make Martin Zubimendi one of the club’s higher earners. That’s per Mundo Deportivo, via Paisley Gates.
In a triple-your-money proposal, Liverpool put somewhere in the region of $194k (£150k/€176k) per week on the table. Zubimendi, of course, ultimately elected to stay at Real Sociedad, where it is expected he will sign a new and improved deal.
>In all likelihood, that still won’t get close to what Liverpool was willing to pay him. But fair play to him for staying loyal to his boyhood club.

Mamardashvili update

Fabrizio Romano has explained the complexity of any deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili. He told the Here We Go podcast about the intricacies of the proposed transfer.

The journalist stressed that the proposed move to Liverpool is slated for 2025, not this summer. Bournemouth appears to be involved as a kind of intermediary, and has given the “green light” to proceed.

It has been reported elsewhere that Premier League rules would prohibit Liverpool from signing Mamardashvili and immediately loaning him to another Premier League club. The implication from Romano is that the Cherries would actually be the ones signing the Valencia goalkeeper, with an agreement in place for the Reds to buy him the following year.

>But it is Liverpool who is “in negotiations” with Valencia. All very confusing.Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has been linked with a move to

Guehi has “admirers” at Liverpool

According to TeamTalk sources, Marc Guehi has “admirers” behind the scenes at Liverpool. With Newcastle now up to four bids this summer, the Reds could swoop in and try to seal the elusive deal.

;>The Crystal Palace defender is even more highly-rated after a successful summer with England. Reported valuations vary, but the story suggests Liverpool would need to pay over $84m (£65m/€76m).
There remains a “good chance” Guehi could leave this summer, despite Newcastle’s failed attempts to date. But he did play the full 90 minutes today in a 2-1 loss to Brentford.

Nunez will be “unhappy” with Liverpool role

Peter Crouch and Steve Nicol have agreed that Darwin Nunez will be “unhappy” with his role on the bench at Liverpool, sparking transfer fears. He was left among the substitutes against Ipswich Town.
“It’s not good for Darwin Nunez and it’s not good that Jota scores,” Nicol told ESPN. “If you’re Nunez, you’re wondering how you get a start.

If Jota keeps scoring goals, then Nunez will not start. It’s beginning to feel like he’s not happy sitting on the bench, and it’s a carry on from last season, when he pretty much disappeared from the team. It kinda smells a little bit like that.”

Crouch made similar remarks on the TNT Sports coverage. He also fears Nunez could be “unhappy”.
Arne Slot has committed to getting the best out of Nunez, the potential record signing at Anfield, having not courted any offers this summer. But it’s a long road ahead of the Uruguayan.

Zubimendi scores

Martin Zubimendi found the net for Real Sociedad late on against Rayo Vallecano, having been introduced at half time. But Liverpool also saw the other side of the coin, with the midfielder unable to influence the result.

In the end, his side lost 2-1, and his goal proved to be a consolation. There will be little sympathy at Anfield!

Barcelona wants to “steal” Alexander-Arnold
We’ve all heard more than enough already about Real Madrid’s apparent interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold. But to make matters worse, Barcelona is reportedly taking an interest too.
According to Fichajes, Barcelona wants to “steal” the signing away from its bitter rival. But Liverpool will also have something to say about that, and is reportedly making efforts to agree a new contract with the vice-captain.

For his part, Alexander-Arnold joked with reporters after a great performance against Ipswich Town. He quipped that he had no idea what they would possibly want to talk to him about.

Martin Zubimendi was omitted from Real Sociedad’s starting line-up against Rayo Vallecano this evening. But he has been introduced at half time.

His manager declared before the game that Zubimendi was now with the team “until the death”. That comes after he got cold feet over a move to Liverpool.

Had Zubimendi sat out the full 90 minutes of the La Liga opener, tongues would undoubtedly have wagged. But his involvement reinforces what we already knew: the Reds’ pursuit is over, having been unsuccessful.

Vallecano, by the way, just took the lead.

Blair could be latest in Liverpool youth exodu Liverpool has not been averse to selling youth players this summer, despite the lack of incoming transfer business. And Harvey Blair could be the latest.

Blair played a surprisingly visible part in preseason, impressing Arne Slot. Even so, Liverpool is open to a permanent departure for the 20-year-old, according to David Lynch.

Portsmouth and Reading are both potential suitors. Blair was among the youth players to post a cryptic black-and-white photo on social media recently.

Liverpool “exploring options”

Liverpool could sign Giorgi Mamardashvili and make a more immediate addition for the squad in the two weeks left of the transfer window. That’s per Fabrizio Romano.

Referencing Arne Slot’s comments in the wake of the win over Ipswich, Romano claimed that Liverpool is still “exploring options” before the end of the summer. Mamardashvili would effectively be joining up in 2025 if that deal got done, but the Reds are also seeing if they can strengthen the current squad.
However, there are no names to share yet. Romano promised an update as soon as he could provide one.

Koopmeiners out of Atalanta squad

Teun Koopmeiners has been left out of the Atalanta squad for the opening match of the Serie A season. That comes amid persistent transfer links.

Tutto Mercato Web previously branded Koopmeiners the “number one target” for Liverpool this summer. However, it’s now thought that he is waiting on a move to Juventus.
Whether the Old Lady can strike an agreement with Atalanta, however, still remains to be seen. Koopmeiners previously played under Slot at AZ Alkmaar.

Branthwaite “links”
Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is the subject of renewed “links” to Liverpool. That’s per the ECHO.
It has spotted that the odds of moving to Branthwaite this summer have been slashed to 2/1 on Sky Bet, making Liverpool the most likely destination according to the bookies. This development comes despite Manchester United having been linked for much of the summer.
Liverpool has been credited with an interest in the sensational swoop in the past. Branthwaite impressed while on loan at PSV, but the logistics of a deal would surely

Bobby Clark has agreed personal terms over his move to Red Bull Salzburg. That’s per DaveOCKOP.
The Liverpool youngster could travel to Austria on Tuesday to finalize the move. It would see him link up with Pep Lijnders and Vitor Matos again.

Carragher’s brutal Sterling response
Jamie Carragher has told Raheem Sterling to “just play better” after his camp released a statement about his exclusion from the Chelsea squad.
Formerly teammates at Liverpool, Carragher stated that he is fan of Sterling as a player and person. He also questioned Chelsea’s way of running things.

However, he poured scorn on the statement. He felt it was unnecessary, and questioned the timing of it coming out an hour before kick-off

Sterling’s camp releases statement

Raheem Sterling’s camp has released a statement following the former Liverpool player’s exclusion from the opening matchday squad.

“Raheem Sterling is contracted to Chelsea Football Club for the next three years,” it reads.
“He returned to England two weeks early to conduct individual training, and has had a positive pre-season under the new coach, who he has developed a good working relationship with.
He is committed, as ever, to delivering at the highest level for Chelsea FC and the fans, who he holds in high regard, and given his inclusion in official club pre-match material this week, our expectation was that Raheem would be involved in this weekend’s fixture in some capacity.

As a camp, we have always had positive dialogue with, and assurance from, Chelsea FC in relation to Raheem’s future at the club, so we look forward to gaining clarity on the situation.

Gomez transfer stance

Joe Gomez intends to leave Liverpool if the club’s asking price is met. That’s per Football Insider.
Gomez was left out of the Liverpool squad that travelled to Ipswich, with it being revealed that he was omitted as he explores his transfer options. And while both sides are open to reintegration if a move does not materialize, the latest report confirms that the defender would like a move away.

Liverpool values Gomez at up to $58m (£45m/€53m), around the part-exchange value that had previously been agreed with Newcastle as part of the ill-fated Anthony Gordon swap. Aston Villa could make a move if it sells Diego Carlos before the end of the month.

Nottingham Forest is also said to be in the running – Liverpool might be keeping a close eye on this one, having been linked with Moukoko prevoiusly.

<span;>Leon Goretzka ‘pressured’ into transfer

Bayern Munich is increasing the pressure on Leon Goretzka to consider a transfer this summer, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The midfielder’s camp though ‘100%’ expects him to stay put and fight for his place in the side. He would only conisder a transfer in the winter, and only then if he gets little or no game time after August.

Valencia stance on Mamardashvili

Speaking ahead of Valencia’s game against Barcelona last night – which Giorgi Mamardashvili started – Ruben Baraja sent a defiant message on his goalkeeper’s future:

It is very simple. As long as there is nothing, I am not going to evaluate it. I am not talking about hypotheses.

He has a contract with Valencia and, as long as there is no different situation, he is our player. He is ready to participate in tomorrow’s game. He is prepared to compete, when things happen, we will talk when they happen.

Giorgi Mamardashvili plays for Valencia amid Liverpool
