Bobby Clark has agreed personal terms with Red Bull Salzburg as he edges toward a Liverpool

Liverpool midfielder Bobby Clark has agreed personal terms with Red Bull Salzburg and will head to Austria in the coming days to sign a five-year contract. The Reds accepted a bid of £10m for the 19-year-old earlier this week.

Clark made 12 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool last season and was one of several academy graduates who starred in the League Cup final victory over Chelsea at Wembley in February.

Clark will now travel to Austria on Monday or Tuesday to complete the formalities of the transfer before signing a long-term deal.

It is understood that the decision to leave Liverpool was an incredibly difficult one to make for the teenager.

But the opportunity to play regular first-team football in the Austrian Bundesliga and potentially the Champions League was too attractive of a proposal for Clark to turn down.

The move will see the England youth international reunited with Pep Lijnders, who was appointed as Red Bull Salzburg’s manager this summer following his departure from Liverpool.

The Reds have inserted both a buy-back and a sell-on clause in the transfer.
