Despite his potential, Plymouth may regret missing out on Danns as an attacking threat in the upcoming season.
Liverpool youngster Jayden Danns won’t be leaving Anfield this summer due to a back injury in a blow to Plymouth Argyle’s hopes of signing him for 2024/25.
According to The Athletic, Danns’ injury is worse than first thought and with this, a loan exit from the Reds this summer won’t be happening.
Argyle had been linked with a move for the youngster, with Wayne Rooney taking an interest in the player after seeing him appear at a senior level for the Merseyside outfit last season.
Rooney has already been busy in the transfer market this summer, with Nathanael Ogbeta, Victor Palsson, and Kornel Szucs all joining the Pilgrims permanently.
Ogbeta already has experience at this level and will want to make a good impression following a fairly mixed loan spell at Bolton Wanderers.

In terms of Argyle’s other transfer business, Darko Gyabi, Muhamed Tijani and Ibrahim Cissoko have all joined on loan – and all three will be keen to make a real impact during their temporary stays at Home Park.
Gyabi will be keen to make an impact in Leeds United’s first team sooner rather than later and with this in mind, he won’t be a shortage of motivation to do well in Devon.
Not only have Argyle signed some talented players, but they have also managed to retain Morgan Whittaker at this point and that could be crucial for their survival hopes, considering how important he was last season.

Making five senior appearances last term, with these appearances coming in the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup, Danns has been able to get a limited amount of experience under his belt.
He scored a brace against Southampton and with the youngster looking like a real asset in front of the TV cameras that night, this performance alone may have persuaded some clubs to enter the race for him.
However, the 18-year-old won’t be leaving Anfield this summer due to a back injury, which is a blow for the Pilgrims.
A loan exit may have been a possibility if it wasn’t for this setback.

Danns is clearly a talented player and could have been a real asset in the Championship this season.
The 18-year-old may be inexperienced, but he looked brilliant against the Saints last term and scored two goals against a side that managed to secure promotion from the second tier at the end of last term.
Considering how much of an attacking threat he is, he could have been a game-changer along with Whittaker during the 2024/25 campaign.
A January move shouldn’t be ruled out at this point, but having Danns for the entire season would have been a real bonus for the Pilgrims.

Martin Zubimendi’s decision to reject a move to Anfield means the Reds are still the only team in the Premier League not to have made any new signings this summer. An angry Richard Hughes and Arne Slot will now have to go back to the drawing board and work out what their next steps are.

It hasn’t taken long for a new target to emerge, with reports suggesting Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is being eyed up. The speculation has moved quickly, with claims that Liverpool has already had a bid rejected for the Georgia international.

Meanwhile, Luis Diaz was rather sensationally linked with a move to Manchester City yesterday – a rumor that was very quickly dismissed. Nevertheless, speculation continues over his future at Anfield.

If Liverpool is looking for some good news after Zubimendi though, Johan Bakayoko and PSV Eindhoven may have supplied it, with the door potentially open to a late move for the winger.

Liverpool youngster Luca Stephenson is expected to depart the club on a season-long loan this summer.

Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia has opened up on his decision to snub Liverpool and sign for the Blues 12 months ago.

The Reds had identified the Southampton midfielder as an alternative to Moises Caicedo – who Chelsea had also nabbed – but fell short in their attempts.

However, Lavia has now conceded that it was a “no brainer” in joining the west Londoners in an interview with The Athletic.

“Listen, when I heard about Chelsea and it was from a long time ago before everything started, it was a no-brainer,” he said. “Some stuff I was reading, I’m not going to say it was fake but my decision was Chelsea.

“The interest from Liverpool was there but, in my head, I wanted to play for Chelsea.”

Youngster cull explained

Liverpool has just sold 21-year-old Fabio Carvalho to Brentford while Ben Doak, Bobby Clark and Sepp van den Berg all face uncertain futures.

However, there is reportedly a reason behind Liverpool’s youngster cull, which comes as a surprise given the Reds frequently used and relied on youth players last season.

According to a report from 90min, Liverpool’s willingness to sell its young players has not come as an order from new manager Arne Slot. Instead, it’s believed a level of exposure in the first-team has not been planned for academy talents this season.
