Liverpool are still to make a signing in the summer transfer window and received a major blow this week in their pursuit of midfielder Martin Zubimendi. The Real Sociedad man informed the Reds that he will not be making the move to Anfield this summer, putting an end to their chase.

The club will now have to move onto other targets as Arne Slot looks to add his own players to the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp at the start of pre-season. Clubs don’t have long to do business if they want new arrivals to feature in their opening games of the season.

Liverpool take on Ipswich away in Saturday’s early kick-off (12.30pm). To be eligible for that game, any new signings will have to complete their moves by 12pm on Friday afternoon.

Giorgi Mamardashvili

The goalkeeper has reportedly agreed personal terms with Liverpool with the player keen on a move to Anfield. The Reds now need to find an agreement with Valencia over a transfer.

It is suggested that if a deal is complete Mamardashvili will go out on loan, possibly for the next two seasons. AFC Bournemouth have been credited with an interest.

If a deal is reached, Liverpool could quickly complete the two transfer moves (bringing him to Anfield and sending him out on loan). It has been reported that Liverpool have made a £30 million bid to Valencia.

Bobby Clark

In terms of outgoings, one player who has been linked with an exit is young midfielder, Bobby Clark. It is claimed that up to five clubs are interested in signing the player this season, including Red Bull Leipzig and Newcastle United.

RB Leipzig have an initial bid of £8.2 million turned down by the Reds, with it falling significantly below the club’s valuation. But a sale could be on the cards if that bid is improved in the next few days.

Ben Doak

Another player who could be on the move is Ben Doak with newly-promoted Leicester City and Southampton keen on taking the youngster on loan. Doak was set to undergo talks with head coach Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes over his future.

Sepp van den Berg

Feyenoord are the latest team to be showing an interest in a move for the defender, according to reports. The Dutchman looks set to leave Liverpool after impressing on loan with Mainz last season.

That has prompted reported interest from Stuttgart, Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg, Mainz, Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen and PSV Eindhoven. There seems to be no shortage of interest, which is a positive for Liverpool’s hopes of cashing in.
