BREAKING NEWS: Fabrizio Romano has Liverpool transfer update as two signings are plotted by Arne Slot

Liverpool appear set to be busy over the coming weeks of the summer transfer window.

It has been an at times frustrating period for Reds supporters as they wait for their club to make some movement.

However, with things going well on the pitch so far it doesn’t look as though the Liverpool Squad in need of too much anyway.

Nevertheless, one or two tweaks will certainly be welcome, and after reports emerged on Tuesday that

Liverpool are targeting a new defensive midfielder

it seems at least one will be made.

Now, according to journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, there is likely to be another one on the way soon after.

Fabrizio Romano makes Liverpool transfer prediction

At the beginning of the summer, it had looked like Liverpool’s priority in the transfer market would be to bring a new centre-back to Anfield

However, with Sepp van den Berg excelling in pre-season, this need seems to have lessened significantly.

Instead, Slot has decided he does not fancy Wataru Endo. As a result, Liverpool’s biggest want is now bringing in a midfielder who is more suited to the head coach’s system.

It remains to be seen exactly who the Reds have identified as being that player, but we’ll surely know soon enough

In the meantime, Romano has confirmed that Liverpool are indeed ‘active’ for a player in the middle of the pitch.

But speaking on his  playback  channel, the reporter also claimed that the Reds will be in for ‘at least’ one more signing besides.

“Liverpool have always been active for a new midfielder and also something else,” says Romano. “I don’t think it’s just a midfielder.

“So, a new midfielder is the priority for Liverpool, they will do something, but also in other positions. I think at least one more apart from a midfielder for Liverpool.”

What other position are Liverpool targeting?

While centre-back may no longer be the most pressing issue on sporting director Richard Hughes’ agenda, it may still become a factor.

Van den Berg could still leave Liverpool with plenty of teams circling the Dutchman.

If he does head to Wolfsburg, PSV, Mainz or one of the other many interested sides, Slot will surely have to replace him.

Beyond a defender, we genuinely don’t think that Liverpool need an awful lot. A new forward has obviously been mooted, with Anthony Gordon still of interest.

But we think Gordon is slated to move in 2025, with the Reds well stocked for now. An elite defensive midfielder and a new centre-back, then, and no Liverpool fan will be complaining anymore.
