Liverpool transfer news as speculation continues around a move for Anthony Gordon, while reports suggest Alan Varela and Martin Zubimendi could be of interest.

There are now only 11 days to go until the new Premier League season gets underway at Ipswich Town, but Liverpool is yet to make its first signing of the summer transfer window.

With Arne Slot’s side returning from their tour of the United States though, and the whole squad set to reconvene at the AXA Training Centre today, speculation is building that some business could be done soon.

There is one name that is dominating the headlines: Anthony Gordon. After the failed attempts to bring him to Anfield earlier in the summer, it seems a transfer is still not out of the question.

All signs point to Liverpool still being interested in the England international, although Newcastle will aim to stop any more attempts to sign him by offering Gordon a new contract.

Elsewhere, reports in Spain have suggested that talks for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili are underway, though he would be loaned out until Alisson Becker needs replacing (which could be a while). Atalanta’s Ederson is also back on the agenda again.

At least the end of the saga appears to be nearing! Barcelona will be getting a good player but there are much bigger priorities out there for the

Adrien Rabiot yet to receive an offer

After deciding to leave Juventus this summer, Adrien Rabiot has supposedly been surprised by a lack of interest in his signature. Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked but neither has made an offer, according to Juve News 24.

He could end up staying at Juventus as a result. Last year, Rabiot was named vice-captain of the Turin club. The Frenchman’s salary is enormous and is putting off plenty of potential suitors.

Liverpool legend Phil Thompson believes that a couple of Arne Slot’s players could have left him with a transfer headache this summer after impressing on the pre-season tour.

Despite the Reds not having signed anyone this summer, Thommo says that a couple of Liverpool aces could have forced their way into the thinking for the new campaign. While that would not be in lieu of new additions in the transfer market, it is possible that their status could have changed after a strong summer and some impressive performances.

“You look at all the players that he’s got, there are players who have come back in there like Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg, who have done very, very well on the pre-season tour,” Thompson said live on talkSPORT. “Those players, he is probably looking at and going ‘Oh my goodness, these can be a bit of a headache here’.”

Fabio Carvalho has received increased Premier League interest following his stunning form in preseason

Liverpool has been named as a dream transfer destination by Brazilian winger Ronald, who joined Swansea City in the January transfer window from the Portuguese outfit Estrela.

“Look, every player certainly dreams of playing for the biggest clubs in the world: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Milan, etc,” he told Premier League Brasil. “It would be a lie if I said I wouldn’t like that to happen one day.

“The same goes for the big Brazilian clubs. But today my focus is all on Swansea, which for me is already the biggest club

The Premier League has confirmed three more Liverpool fixture changes, though they could be moved again because of the Champions League draw not having taken place yet.
