ARNE SLOT’S SQUAD: Liverpool’s exciting XI for Ipswich opener after three signings worth £153m

Despite Liverpool’s inactivity on the transfer front, Express Sport have predicted what Liverpool’s starting XI might look like if they’re able to get £153million worth of signings across the line.

Goalkeeper: Alisson

An ever-present between the sticks for Liverpool, Alisson has established himself as a living legend at Anfield.

If Slot is to find any success this season or beyond, the form of Alisson will be crucial.

Alisson Becker will star between the sticks for Liverpool once again this season.

Defence: Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, SOLER

If things go to plan for the Merseyside outfit, their first signing of the summer window could come in the shape of Julio Soler.

The teenage sensation is rumoured to be available for around £13million, with some touting him as the long-term Andy Robertson replacement.

Alongside Soler in the backline, it’s much of the same, with Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk set to be available following their international endeavours over the summer.

Likewise for Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the right-back, for now at least, appearing to have shrugged off transfer

Midfield: Mac Allister, VARELA, Szoboszlai

One of the questions for Slot’s premiership will be whether Alexander-Arnold can successfully transition into midfield, or whether his shortcomings at the Euros in that position will carry over into domestic football.

For now, he’s likely to play in defence, but familiar faces in the form of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai should retain their positions in the middle of the park.

That isn’t to say new additions aren’t forthcoming though, with Alan Varela rumoured as a potential option for the 19-time English champions.

The holding midfielder has emerged as a potential candidate for Liverpool’s summer window, with reports claiming Porto could demand as much as £60million.

Attack: Salah, Nunez, GORDON

For some Liverpool fans, seeing Mohamed Salah return to Anfield in a red and white shirt will be a welcome sight, given the speculation surrounding his future at the backend of last season.
