GOOD DEAL : Liverpool find clear Mohamed Salah transfer replacement after recommendation by club legend

Salah might be entering his final 12 months as a Liverpool player, meaning the club will need to look at potential right wing options very soon.

Mohamed Salah calmed the anxiety among Liverpool supporters about his summer plans shortly after Jurgen Klopp’s exit. “We know that trophies are what counts and we will do everything possible to make that happen next season,” he wrote on social media.

“Our fans deserve it and we will fight like hell.” The devil may be in the detail but Salah seemed to make his transfer intentions pretty clear. The winger has 12 months left on his contract, albeit a renewal is unlikely.

The Egyptian has been the king running down the wing at Anfield for seven years now and there is a general feeling that his eighth will be his last. Relentless, inevitable, unstoppable – all adjectives that describe both Salah and age itself.

Salah celebrated his 32nd birthday last month in a milestone that in the modern era isn’t as ‘old’ as it used to be. But there were signs in the second half of last season, mainly after his hamstring injury in January, that the spark was not as easily lit.

His “if I speak there will be fire” comments after his touchline fall-out with Jurgen Klopp at West Ham in April portrayed a figure who was frustrated with being benched. There is no suggestion Salah will slip into a rotational role under Arne Slot but as the legs get older, the recovery time gets longer and the schedule is not getting any lighter.

Liverpool will surely already be planning for Salah’s successor this summer, even if his replacement is not acquired until next year. The name of Anthony Gordon will chime given recent links but he is a player who has played double the amount of games on the left than the right.
