This is how the Premier League table would look without VAR

VAR has been a constant talking point ever since it was introduced into the English game back in the 19/20 season.

Since the introduction of the technology, every goal scored has been analysed to the finest detail.

On multiple occasions, goals have been ruled out by the tiniest marginal offsides the game has ever seen.

As the 22/23 season reaches its mid-way point, a Premier League table without VAR has been revealed.

VAR can go both ways as some teams have benefited more than others. For example, if VAR was not used, According to ESPN, Liverpool would find themselves in a worse position than they are in now.

Jurgen Klopp’s sides would be six points off their current total if VAR was not in use. The Anfield club have seen four goals ruled out for their opponents, which is more than any other club in the Premier League.

In recent matches, Liverpool have seen goals scored by Chelsea and Everton chalked off due to marginal offsides.

Aston Villa were a close second as they have gained four points through VAR decisions, with Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Brentford gaining three points thanks to the technology.

On the other hand, Leeds United have been dealt some major blows by VAR.

Jesse Marsch’s side have lost the most points through VAR decisions, they would be five points better off if there was no technology used.

Manchester City and West Ham have lost three points thanks to VAR.

Football’s governing bodies are constantly looking to improve VAR in order to give everyone extra clarity when a decision is made.

It was recently announced that referees officiating at the Club World Cup will explain a VAR decision to the crowd and the people watching on TV in order to provide more clarity over the decisions.

Premier League table without VAR makes for interesting reading

A Premier League table without VAR has been released and sees some movement in positions from the actual league standings.

After the first four fixtures of the new season going into the international break, reigning champions Manchester City lead the way as they only side with maximum points thus far.

They are followed behind by Spurs, Liverpool, West Ham, Arsenal and Brighton, who are all undefeated on 10 points.

But with VAR already causing plenty of controversy in the early parts of the campaign, London World have looked at how the table might look without the technology.

They have taken into account action from Stockley Park which resulted in goals being chalked off or given, as well as factoring in penalty calls.

There would be no change at the very top as City would still be top of the league on 12 points but Spurs would be level, with the top four remaining in the exact same order.

However, Arsenal and Brighton would swap places in fifth and sixth, with the Gunners losing a point.

Manchester United, who saw Alejandro Garnacho’s goal against Arsenal disallowed for the tightest offside, would be in 8th instead of 11th having been given one more point.

The bottom three would be as it is now, with both Burnley and Luton Town yet to pick up a first point.
