Arsenal Secures £75m-rated Sporting Lisbon Striker in Major Transfer Move

Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres ahead of the next season, according to a report from Portuguese newspaper Leonino. Manager Mikel Arteta has prioritized strengthening the club’s attacking options, and Gyökeres has emerged as a key target.

Arsenal’s pursuit of a top-tier striker included interest in Alexander Isak, Victor Osimhen, and Benjamin Sesko. The Gunners were close to signing Sesko from RB Leipzig, but the Slovenian striker’s decision to renew his contract with Leipzig for four more years forced Arsenal to look elsewhere.

Victor Osimhen, who played a crucial role in Napoli’s Serie A triumph and won the league’s Golden Boot, was another significant target for Arsenal. However, negotiations fell through due to Napoli’s release clause for Osimhen, which was set at approximately £120 million—a fee Arsenal were unwilling to meet.

The focus then shifted to Viktor Gyökeres. Despite having four years remaining on his contract with Sporting CP, Arsenal are prepared to meet the asking price of £75 million for the Swedish striker. Gyökeres had an impressive season, scoring 29 goals in 33 Primera Liga matches.

Additionally, Arsenal are linked with Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich. Kimmich has shown interest in moving to England, though his contract with Bayern Munich runs until 2025.
