Liverpool are interested in signing a new centre-back this summer.

The Reds are said to already be working on a centre-half signing, and they have been linked with a number of different options.

Goncalo Inacio is said to be one defender the Reds are keen on, but signing him this summer won’t be cheap.

Indeed, speaking on The Transfers Podcast, Sergio Krithinas has been discussing Inacio and his future, and he says that Sporting will ask for a lot of money for the Portugal international.

Goncalo Inacio will cost over €50m

According to Krithinas, Inacio is going to cost over €50m (£42m) this summer, for context, Liverpool paid £40m for his Portugal teammate, Diogo Jota.

“With Goncalo Inacio you can add the fact that he is playing in the Euros which could increase his value. I think in the case of Inacio, Sporting will try to get more than €50m. He has played almost 150 games for Sporting, he’s only 22, that’s the type of thing that will increase his value for sure,” Krithinas said.

Inacio could be worth it

While £42m is a lot of money for Inacio, he could well be worth it.

At the age of just 22, this is a player with bags of potential, and he’s already starring for Sporting.

Of course, there may be better value players out there, but if Inacio turns out to be as good as many expect him to be, this fee will be a bargain in years to come.

Some top players have come out of the Portuguese league recently, and Inacio could be the next star to come from a division that is rapidly improving.
