with clarity Justin Bijlow, the goalkeeper for Feyenoord, has been linked to a move to Liverpool, who may be looking to replace Caoimhín Kelleher.

He has addressed the rumours. Nick Olij and Justin Bijlow during a Dutch national team training session at the KNVB Campus in Zeist, the Netherlands, May 27, 2024.

In anticipation of the European Football Championship in Germany, the Dutch national squad is getting ready. Feyenoord’s Justin Bijlow has replied to reports of Liverpool’s interest in a transfer.

Arne Slot, Liverpool’s new head coach, will not be given access to the transfer fund. Although he will be a part of a larger recruiting process, several Feyenoord players have managed to make it to

Interest in Bijlow is thought to be independent of Slot’s arrival, with Liverpool having sent scouts to watch him in the Champions League earlier in the season (De Telegraaf). And the stopper has now responded to the transfer chatter, which has also seen him linked to Arsenal.

“Those are two very nice clubs,” he admitted to Voetbal Zone, clearly showing he is receptive to Liverpool’s reported interest. “Of course it is always nice to be mentioned at big clubs.

“What I’m just saying: I’m ambitious. As long as I play for Feyenoord I will give everything for that and first I just want to focus on the Dutch team.

“Would I stay at Feyenoord? You never know, do you? That’s football. You don’t know that.

“I’m ambitious, I’ve always said that. If the opportunity presents itself and a good club comes from abroad, I am open to it. I’ve always said that. As long as I am under contract with Feyenoord, that is never a punishment and I will give everything as long as I play there.”

Bijlow cuts the figure of a man ready to move on in his career, having come through the ranks at Feyenoord. He came close to moving to Manchester United last summer, but that move never materialized.

However, while the 26-year-old has long been talked about as a high-potential goalkeeper, it has not all been smooth sailing. Injuries have been curiously commonplace throughout his career, and once again blighted his latest campaign under Slot.

If Liverpool is indeed in the market for a goalkeeper, it is probably to replace Caoimhín Kelleher as the number two behind Alisson. The Irishman proved beyond doubt this season that he is ready to be the number one somewhere, and may well depart Anfield in the summer.

Liverpool.com says: A back-up goalkeeper so prone to injuries is not the most comforting of concepts for Liverpool — especially with the third-choice option as yet unknown, with Adrián also potentially on the way out. But at the same time, if Bijlow was content to be the number two option at Anfield, the Reds would struggle to find a more talented player who would be satisfied with such a role.

Bijlow talked up Liverpool and Arsenal, despite knowing that he would surely not be first choice at either club. If he is happy with a role on the bench, then he could be an interesting option, even more so now that Slot has taken charge.
